Sutton Middle School PTA
It starts so easily. You read stories from a comfortable rocking chair to an eager, innocent audience. Traces of cupcakes perfectly complement each smiling face. Yes, the life of a PTA volunteer begins easily. Your mission is a natural extension of your role at home. You enthusiastically agree to nurture and encourage these budding learners as they, along with their parents, begin a new phase of life.
Before long, the next phase arrives and, then, the next. Your PTA volunteer resume reflects your child’s growth and maturity. Your role involves ever-new ways to accomplish an unchanging mission – to nurture and encourage the students at your school to achieve their highest potential.
Here at Sutton Middle School we are fortunate to have a fabulous team of parents who have embraced this mission and have rewritten the book on how to accomplish our goals in creative, effective and inclusive ways. They serve the needs of every member of our diverse Sutton family and its surrounding
community. Frankly, we learn from watching our own children as they emerge from six different feeder schools to form a new class of Sutton Cougars each fall. Parents, too, make new friends and learn to work together. We realize quickly there is a way for everyone to contribute to our school.
What will be the next “experience” on your PTA resume? Our 2006-2007 Job Fair Booklet is your guide to understanding the many ways you can contribute to SMS! Come explore our many established and entrepreneurial opportunities in the areas of Fundraising, Communications and Public Relations, On-Campus Parent Opportunities, Event Opportunities, Community Relations and the PTA Executive Board. Following each “job description” you’ll find additional
information we hope helps you identify opportunities that meet your interests, available time commitment and desired level of responsibility.
The time between rocking chair reading and college tuition check writing will fly by! The Sutton PTA is making the most of the middle school part of this journey. Won’t you join us!
